In 2011 I started to take my holiday snaps a bit more seriously when I decided my iPhone 3G probably wouldn’t do a once in a lifetime trip to New Zealand justice, so I bought my first DSLR on a whim before getting on the plane. The scenery on offer over there provided the most awesome inspiration possible and I started to seriously explore my newfound passion, buying more lenses and equipment along the way.
When it was time to come back home to Manchester, it dawned on me that I’d never considered what was on offer in my own backyard. Snowdonia and the Lake District National Parks were easily within a 2 hour drive and offered rugged and wild landscapes to explore and photograph on day trips from home. Fast forward 10 years and (up until the global pandemic of course) not a month goes by without at least one trip to the mountains, camera in hand. I’ve been fortunate to stretch my legs further too, up to Scotland, Asia and Europe, as well as a couple of dedicated photography fuelled trips to Iceland. With so much more to explore and a Beagle-Spaniel cross to join in the fun now too, hopefully I’ll be able to continue the adventure soon.
